Birthspace, light and embodied experience

  • An international project, this SSHRC-funded Insight Development Grant aims to develop a knowledge mobilization hub to inform a paradigm shift for birth environment design, understood as an imperative of our time that will influence the health and wellbeing of countless women and their children, families, communities.

My collaborators are J. Davis Harte (US), Nicoletta Setola (Italy), and Elizabeth Newnham (Australia).

This initiative is part of a larger transdisciplinary international project, a network of interest co-founded (w/ J. Davis Harte) –the Global Birth Environment Design Network – seeking to build a community committed to improving birth environment design across the globe.

  • This book accompanied my doctoral dissertation as a distillation of key ideas, quotes, images, and process work. It presents the concepts developed within the thesis in a format that allows a visual and short form understanding of the larger practice-based research and its long-form discussion/presentation.
